Journalists lack standing to challenge a federal law allowing for the indefinite detention of people who "substantially supported" al Qaida, the Taliban or forces associated with the two groups, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit held Wednesday.
Vacating a preliminary injunction imposed by Southern District Judge Katherine Forrest (See Profile), the circuit said journalist Christopher Hedges and others cannot sue to block of the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act's §1021(b)(2).
