An insurance company involved in litigation over the 2006 ceiling collapse in a Boston tunnel is suing Edwards Wildman Palmer for malpractice, alleging the firm provided incompetent advice and its lawyers should have known about a conflict that led the firm to withdraw weeks before trial.

National Union Fire Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh, Pa., an AIG affiliate, claims breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, legal malpractice, fraudulent concealment and violation of New York Judiciary Law §487. The insurer is asking for $10 million in damages, attorney fees and costs, $10 million in punitive damages and fees it paid the law firm.
