A judge has struck down New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s plan to replace the existing fleet of taxicabs with a so-called “taxi of tomorrow.”

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Shlomo Hagler (See Profile) on Tuesday invalidated the plan to mandate the Nissan NV200 as the city’s official taxi cab, concluding that the Taxi and Limousine Commission exceeded its authority in contracting with Nissan.
