After a witness pleaded guilty to perjury, the Manhattan District Attorney’s office withdrew a subpoena to a criminal defense attorney who had been ordered to appear before a grand jury.
Vinoo Varghese, of Varghese & Associates, represents Richard Hovan, a former private school teacher charged with rape and engaging in sexual conduct with a teenage student. Hovan’s ex-fiancée, Marina Bontkowski, 27, testified before a grand jury in his case.
