The Harris Beach law firm is challenging a subpoena in which the state’s Moreland Act Commission is seeking detailed information about the work and clients of state Senator Michael Nozzolio who has been with the firm for nearly two decades while simultaneously serving in the Legislature.

Harris Beach contends the subpoena far exceeds the authority of the commission, violates the separation of powers doctrine, represents a back-door attempt by Governor Andrew Cuomo to impose his will on lawmakers and demands privileged material that the law firm cannot ethically disclose.
