A political and constitutional power struggle between Governor Andrew Cuomo and the Legislature has landed before Manhattan Supreme Court Justices Joan Kenney (See Profile) and Alice Schlesinger (See Profile), who have been asked by approximately a dozen law firms, the Assembly and Senate and individual members to quash subpoenas seeking extensive information on lawmakers’ outside income.

In recent days, businesses and individuals targeted by the Moreland Act Commission, which Cuomo empaneled to investigate public corruption, have filed motions arguing that the subpoenas violate the separation of powers doctrine.
