New York City officials and Staten Island District Attorney Daniel Donovan Jr. have announced plans for a Family Justice Center in the borough that is expected to open in 2014. The center will offer services, including access to prosecutors and counselors, to victims of domestic violence, human trafficking and elder abuse. The facility at 126 Stuyvesant Pl., now used as a jury waiting room, among other things, is in “close proximity” to the borough’s various courts, according to a press release.
Family Justice Centers are operational in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. Manhattan’s center is slated to open later this month.
