As part of a settlement of a libel lawsuit brought by a close friend of Philip Seymour Hoffman, the National Enquirer is admitting in a full-page page ad in today’s New York Times that it was duped by a source and will fund a new foundation that will support playwrights.

The tabloid reported to have an “exclusive interview” with playwright David Bar Katz, The tabloid quoted Katz saying he and Hoffman were gay lovers, that he had seen Hoffman using cocaine the night before Hoffman’s death and that he had seen Hoffman use heroin on a number of occasions.
