Plaintiffs counsel in a dispute over an insurance policy will have to pay $20,000 as a sanction for filing a frivolous lawsuit.
Judge Katherine Forrest (See Profile) said the plaintiff in Bonded Life Fund, LLC. v. Axa Equitable Life Insurance Co., 13 Civ. 5451 pursued an obviously baseless claim, and their lawyers from Ellenoff Grossman & Schole have to pay attorneys’ fees for the other side.
