A bankruptcy law firm, responding to creditors seeking to force it into bankruptcy, has argued its petition should be dismissed because New York is the wrong venue.

Jacoby & Meyers Bankruptcy LLP, which had represented individuals in bankruptcies nationwide, is the target of an involuntary filing in Southern District bankruptcy court brought by several creditors, including solo practitioners who claim the firm hasn’t paid them for their appearance work, and LegalZoom, which has a judgment of more than $1 million against the closed firm.
