Southern District U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara has apparently widened his probe into political corruption in Albany by subpoenaing records from the state Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE), according to published reports.
According to several media reports, Bharara has requested all JCOPE complaints of alleged wrongdoing by elected officials. Last month, Bharara demanded records from the Moreland Commission to Combat Public Corruption that was appointed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo but then disbanded.
