ALBANY – An Albany County surrogate who was chastised seven years ago for giving “misleading and evasive” testimony at another judge’s disciplinary hearing has been removed from the bench, in part for presiding over cases involving that judge, who was convicted of federal charges.

Surrogate Cathryn Doyle’s disciplinary history, and now her removal from office, is largely linked to conduct involving her longtime friend, former Supreme Court Justice Thomas Spargo.
