Although an affidavit of service reflects service of the petition, as amended, on respondent in California, she has failed to file a responsive pleading. A notice of appearance has been filed by counsel for the respondent, who has written to the court indicating that he was unable to appear on the latest return date, and that it was his understanding from counsel for petitioner that the matter would be adjourned again. This did not occur and respondent is still in default.
