A judge has refused to allow the owners of a Great Pyrenees named Aspen to make a federal issue out of complaints that the dog made too much noise while guarding the couple’s alpaca herd.

“When the herd is threatened, Aspen barks,” Western District Judge William Skretny (See Profile) wrote. “When Aspen barks, the neighbors complain. When the town becomes involved, a dog bark becomes a federal case.”
