Minorities remain underrepresented on the state bench, according to a new report from the judicial section of the New York State Bar Association. The report found that whites comprise 67 percent of New York’s overall population but 81 percent of its bench.
Moreover, the report found a particularly “sharp divide” existed between upstate and downstate districts.
