Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman cannot pursue a breach of contract claim for $2.3 million in legal fees against a former client’s company, a judge has ruled.
Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Anil Singh (See Profile) in Kasowitz Benson v. Fletcher, 158590/2013, pointed to Kasowitz Benson’s engagement letter with hedge fund manager Alphonse “Buddy” Fletcher and his company, Fletcher Asset Management (FAM), saying there was nothing in the letter advising the clients of the magnitude of the legal bills.
