A federal court in White Plains has accused a defense attorney in the corruption case against Sen. Malcolm Smith of communicating ex parte with the judge’s chambers and ordered her stop (See Order).
In response, Mineola attorney Deborah Misir, who represents Smith’s co-defendant, Vincent Tabone, said in court papers that Southern District Judge Kenneth Karas (See Profile) mischaracterized her conversations with the judge’s clerk and unfairly targeted her because she is pregnant.
