A Bronx Supreme Court justice abruptly terminated an in-court guardianship proceeding last month and reconvened it an hour later in the bedroom of a 93-year-old woman, whose assets her son and daughter were bitterly fighting to control.
Justice Sharon Aarons (See Profile), in a 24-page decision and order, said she held the in-home evaluation to determine whether the attorney who appeared on behalf of Valerie L. was “chosen freely and independently by the alleged incapacitated person.”
