ALBANY – New York will require local social service agencies this year to screen potential foster parents to determine whether they’ve had previous licenses revoked or children removed from their care and to state the reasons why.

The new law takes effect in June and requires the local agency commissioner to review the history of removals and revocations to close information gaps in the current system, Assemblywoman Nily Rozic wrote in her sponsor’s memo. The bill is A08474/S06875.
