Prosecutors in Manhattan and Brooklyn are launching pilot programs next month to divert cases for eligible youths who have been accused of an offense even before the matter gets to court.
The programs announced earlier this week will apply right now to first-time offenders, ages 16 and 17, who are charged by police with low-level non-violent misdemeanors and violations.
