The New York City Bar Association and Common Cause New York are renewing their call to the governor and the Legislature for creation of a commission to review the effectiveness of the state’s Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE).
Under the legislation forming JCOPE in 2011, a commission was to have been created by June 1, 2014, to report to the governor and Legislature by March 1, 2015, on the effectiveness and performance of the ethics-in-government regulator.
