ALBANY – While an Albany judge is preparing to improve legal services for indigent criminal defendants in five counties, involved parties are working with a magistrates group to resolve concerns about how the improvements would affect town and village courts.
Supreme Court Justice Gerald Connolly (See Profile) held the final fairness hearing Jan. 15 on the proposed settlement in Hurrell-Harring v. State of New York, 8866-2007. He has asked for papers to finalize the settlement, though he gave no indication of when he might sign it.
