Who among us does not appreciate the ease of Uber? No more running down the street to hail taxis. No more battling wind, snow or rain to find a ride home. No more watchful eyes for other pedestrians who are also seeking a car for hire, ready to beat you to the car door; instead, you can stay at your home, or restaurant while waiting for your ride. The car comes to you, rather than you going to the car. No more (okay, reduced) worrying about your teenager walking the streets of the City late at night trying to find a taxi. If you question the impact of Uber, just ask young adults their opinion about taking a date (or attorneys taking a client or prospective client) in an Uber X car, as opposed to an Uber Black car. Through the Uber App, riders can select among several classes of ride options, depending on the type of vehicle, including luxury and limousine sedans (Uber BLACK), Taxis (Uber TAXI) and Hybrid and mid-range cars (Uber X).

Yes, it will cost more than a yellow cab, or negotiating a cash deal with an idle black car, but the benefits of Uber, at least judged by its popularity, outweigh any drawbacks, unless you are involved in accident caused by an Uber driver’s distraction due to the receiving and acknowledging trip requests while still driving.
