A Brooklyn appellate panel tossed a personal injury suit against a wrestling club, saying a boy’s injury during a match could not have been stopped by “even the most intense supervision.”
Miette Cvijenovich claimed Beacon Kids Wrestling Club and other parties were negligent after her 13-year-old son was injured in a wrestling tournament. The boy was squaring off with an opponent who lifted and slammed him to the ground. The boy’s left shoulder required surgery. Once the opponent performed the maneuver, the referee, an experienced high school wrestler, disqualified the opponent.
