A trial court properly denied a man’s motion to suppress handguns and burglary tools found in the trunk of an automobile during a traffic stop, a divided appellate panel ruled.

Michael Barnes was pulled over in April 2009 for speeding and, while officers were looking in the trunk of the vehicle for Barnes’ registration, an officer testified, they found two handguns in plain view inside an unzipped gym bag, along with burglar’s tools.
