The campaign for Nassau County District Attorney has posed a number of challenges for attorney Michael Scotto, who is vying for the Democratic nomination against Acting D.A. Madeline Singas.

Singas, who was appointed to the seat in January, has the endorsement of the county Democratic committee and a war chest of more than $1.1 million. Scotto has only been able to raise a fraction of that, and a costly ballot challenge launched by Singas earlier this summer hit him hard, forcing him to find new counsel after he was unable to continue paying his original lawyer.
