A former pharmacist for Rite Aid Pharmacy who suffers from a fear of needles was wrongfully fired from his position because of his condition and was retaliated against by the company, a federal judge found.

But Northern District Judge Thomas McAvoy also found in Stevens v. Rite Aid Corporation, 6:13-cv-783, that a jury’s $900,000 award for compensatory damages shocks the “judicial conscience,” and reduced it to $125,000.
