The Legal Aid Society has filed a federal suit to remove cameras in interview booths in the arraignment facilities of the new Staten Island courthouse.
Though the city maintains the cameras are a valid safety measure and insists attorney-client conversations are not monitored, Legal Aid insists they violate attorney-client privilege and defendants’ Sixth Amendment right to counsel.
