Court administrators are seeking comment on a proposal to grant exemptions to lawyer-legislators and others who must disclose their clients’ identities under recently enhanced state ethics procedures.

The rules circulated for public comment by the Office of Court Administration seek to define a new role given to the courts by the governor and Legislature to grant public officials’ requests for exemption from disclosing information about their legal clients. The rules go into effect on Jan. 1, 2016.
