In the political corruption trial of former Senate majority leader Dean Skelos and his son, Adam, the president of a company that hired Adam as a consultant testified Tuesday that he felt he had no choice but to give Adam a big raise.
Environmental company AbTech Industries hired Adam Skelos as a consultant in November 2012, initially at $4,000 a month. When AbTech was trying to obtain a potential $12 million stormwater contract with Nassau County, Charles Dorego, the general counsel of developer Glenwood Management, was pressuring AbTech president Glenn Rink to increase Adam Skelos’ pay, according to emails shown to jurors that refer to Adam’s father. Glenwood had lobbied Dean Skelos on real estate legislation.
