Former U.S. Sen. Alfonse D’Amato told a federal jury Friday in the corruption trial of former New York Senate leader Dean Skelos that he warned Skelos in 2013 that his son might get fired for not showing up to work at a medical malpractice insurance company.

D’Amato, a Republican like Skelos, testified that he was told the job was in jeopardy by a partner at the consulting firm where D’Amato has worked since leaving the U.S. Senate in 1999.
