A Manhattan appeals court has upheld the murder conviction of a man for the strangling and drowning of his girlfriend in the bathtub of an upscale hotel.

In July 2013, a jury found Nicholas Brooks guilty of second-degree murder. Acting Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Bonnie Wittner sentenced Brooks to 25 years to life. He is the son of composer, Joseph Brooks, who won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “You Light Up My Life.”
