ALBANY – A state commission credited its creator, departing Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman, for effectively promoting better civil legal services for low-income New Yorkers, and urged his successor to carry on his initiatives.
The Permanent Commission on Access to Justice said in its latest report that while more New Yorkers are receiving services, the need remains vast and a “substantial justice gap remains.”
