ALBANY – The state Judiciary is asking for too much money in the new fiscal year, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday, and called for reductions in its spending expectations.

In an analysis delivered on the day Cuomo gave his 2016 State of the State address, the governor said the courts’ request for a 2.4 percent spending increase is above the 2 percent ceiling he asked his executive agencies to stay within. He also said the Judiciary’s increase is above the 1.7 percent spending growth his executive agencies observed overall in his $143.6 billion spending proposal.
