Verizon New York has successfully argued before a state appeals court against release of information the company said is protected by the trade secrets exception to the state Freedom of Information Law (FOIL).
The 5-0 Appellate Division, Third Department, panel said Verizon sufficiently showed the information is shielded by FOIL protections preventing companies from having to divulge confidential data that could injure them competitively. The exception is in Public Officers Law §87(2)(d).
