Two state Assembly committees have scheduled a public hearing in Manhattan next month to explore whether the rights of participants are adequately protected in consumer and employment cases that go to arbitration.
The Judiciary and Consumer Affairs committees said complainants have questioned whether common-law safeguards of participants’ mutual assent and unconscionability are being observed in matters submitted for arbitration.
