An elderly man hit by a van that was trying to evade an unmarked police vehicle has had his multimillion dollar jury award slashed by almost 85 percent.

Bronx Supreme Court Justice Alexander Hunter, Jr. trimmed Melvin Lee’s award to $4.3 million from the $28 million dollar jury award in Lee v. City of New York, 306089-2011. The judge said if Lee did not agree to the reduced award, a new damages trial would proceed.
