Staten Island District Attorney Michael McMahon is bringing in a police officer-turned-prosecutor to advise his office.

Thomas Ridges will join the office in a newly created job of special counsel to the district attorney. In the role, Ridges will advise McMahon on legal issues and supervise cases in the Narcotics Bureau, Investigations Bureau and the Crime Strategies Unit. He starts Monday.
