Sullivan County will accept a federal monitor as part a deal to settle allegations of voting rights violations against Hasidim in the Village of Bloomingburg.

Southern District Judge Katherine Forrest signed off Tuesday on a consent decree that resolves claims that the County Board of Elections illegally challenged the registration or qualification of Hasidic voters. The monitor, still to be appointed, will supervise elections and report to Forrest.
