A Brooklyn judge rejected a defense call for a mistrial in the case of Officer Peter Liang, who is on trial for manslaughter in the death of an unarmed man shot in a housing development stairwell.

Acting Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun rejected the defense claim that the prosecution’s closing argument impermissibly alleged Liang intentionally shot at Akai Gurley.
