A New York City police officer was convicted Thursday of second-degree manslaughter in the 2014 shooting death of an unarmed man in a darkened public housing stairwell.
Brooklyn jurors said Officer Peter Liang was criminally reckless when he fired a single shot into a stairwell that ricocheted into Akai Gurley’s heart.
