William Gallagher, an insurance defense and personal injury attorney who was in practice for almost 60 years, died on Saturday of complications from a stroke that he had suffered three weeks prior. He was 82.

Gallagher, who lived in Larchmont, was born in Buffalo, graduated from Canisius College in 1955 and obtained his J.D. from Fordham Law School in 1958.
