Three New York bar groups agree that the U.S. Senate’s Republican leadership should consider a nominee by Democratic President Barack Obama to the U.S. Supreme Court this year.
The New York City Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the New York County Lawyers’ Association all indicated that they believe it is the Senate’s constitutional duty to act to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia once a nominee is put forward by Obama and not wait for a selection by the next president.
