Susan Phillips Read, who retired last summer as an associate judge on the state Court of Appeals after 12 1/2 years on the bench, is joining Greenberg Traurig as of counsel in the firm’s global litigation practice.

Read, 69, said Greenberg Traurig gives her a firm with a strong corporate law practice—”my first love,” she said of commercial law—as well as the ability to keep her primary residence in the Albany area and to split time between Greenberg Traurig’s Albany and Manhattan offices.
