A Nassau County judge has refused to enjoin a local school board and superintendent from barring news cameras from a meeting that was open to the public.

In an April 12 ruling that became available last week, Justice Jeffrey Brown said that a “community forum” convened by Hempstead Union Free School District superintendent Susan Johnson was a “meeting” under New York’s Education Law but not the Open Meetings Law, which requires camera access.
