Authorities in Queens and Rensselaer County have been asked by the Attorney General Office’s for more information surrounding the April 17 deaths of two civilians at the hands of police officers.

The Attorney General’s Special Investigations and Prosecutions Unit will determine if it has jurisdiction to supersede the local district attorneys’ offices and prosecute the officers involved for possible misuse of their authority, Eric Soufer, a spokesman for Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, said Wednesday.
