An attorney convicted on federal mortgage fraud charges lost her bid to escape disbarment Thursday when the Appellate Division, First Department, denied her request to hold a hearing on her case after she is released from prison.

Genevieve Salvatore was one of four lawyers indicted in a scheme to obtain federally guaranteed mortgages on properties in Connecticut. She pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud in March 2014 and was sentenced to two years in prison.
