A judge has formally denied a prosecution attempt to compel Apple’s assistance to unlock a smartphone, saying the application was mooted by recent government revelations that someone had provided the passcode.
On Friday, prosecutors in the Eastern District U.S. Attorney’s Office wrote Eastern District Judge Margo Brodie that they no longer required Apple’s assistance to unlock an iPhone.
