The head of the state district attorneys’ association on Tuesday called on the Third Department’s Committee on Professional Standards to expedite an inquiry into a judge’s accusation of prosecutorial abuse and mismanagement against St. Lawrence County District Attorney Mary Rain.
The charges against Rain by St. Lawrence County Court Judge Jerome Richards, and allegations by local attorneys, have created what District Attorneys Association President Thomas Zugibe called a “crisis of confidence that has overtaken” the criminal justice system in the northern New York county.
