The public corruption conviction of former New York City Councilman Daniel Halloran for trying to rig the city’s 2013 mayoral race was affirmed Thursday by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Halloran, a Republican who represented part of Queens from 2010 to 2013, was convicted for taking bribes and scheming to have former Democratic state Sen. Malcolm Smith cross party lines and secure the Republican nomination for mayor.
